APRIL 2008
This notice is to inform you of what is going on at the Lodge this month. While we are advancing forward in our building renovation, we are going back to some of the more traditional ways things were done in the past. First of all, the Trestle Board will be mailed to each and every member each and every month, beginning with the May 2008 issue. We will do our best to not make it boring. Secondly, the Worshipful Master and several of the Lodge Officers feel that we should go back to two Stated Communications each month. There are several reasons for this, but mainly so that Lodge business can be more efficiently conducted. As it stands now, if a business matter is tabled until the next meeting, it doesn’t come up for review for another month, and that is frequently too long a time to remain undecided. At the March Stated Communication it was moved, seconded and carried that we amend our By Laws to permit this second Stated Communication. Therefore, the following By Law amendment will be voted on at our April 15th Stated Communication.
Sec 5.01 presently reads:
Stated Communications-The Stated Communications of this Lodge shall be held at its hall on the third Tuesday of each month, except for December, which will be the first and third Tuesday in each month at 7:30 o’clock, P.M., provided that such Stated Communication may be suspended during the months of July, August and September of each year by special action of the Lodge, and, provided, further, that the place of meeting for any single or particular Stated Communication may be changed by special action of the Lodge when the occasion shall require it, provided that such change of meeting place is approved in writing by the District Deputy Grand Master of the Masonic District in which this Lodge is situated and that written notice of such change of meeting place is given to the membership of the Lodge, and, provided, further, that no business shall be transacted at such Communication held in such different place except that specifically mentioned in the notice to the membership.
Proposed to read:
Stated Communications-The Stated Communications of this Lodge shall be held at its hall on the first and third Tuesday in each month at 7:30 o’clock P.M., provided that such Stated Communication may be suspended during the months of July, August and September of each year by special action of the Lodge, and, provided, further, that the place of meeting for any single or particular Stated Communication may be changed by special action of the Lodge when the occasion shall require it, provided that such change of meeting place is approved in writing by the District Deputy Grand Master of the Masonic District in which this Lodge is situated and that written notice of such change of meeting place is given to the membership of the Lodge, and, provided, further, that no business shall be transacted at such Communication held in such different place except that specifically mentioned in the notice to the membership.
The red highlighted area is the only part of Section 5.01 that will change. All the rest of the wording of this Section is what the Grand Lodge recommends so as to make a more Universal By Law for all the Lodges.
At the April 15th Stated Communication we will be balloting on the Petitions for the Three Degrees of five Candidates. As you can see, we are growing. We will also be balloting on the Reinstatement Petition of one Brother.
There is a Called Communication on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, @ 7:30 PM for the purpose of Passing to the Degree of Fellow Craft the following Entered Apprentice Brothers: Felix Nunez, Gregory Baez and Albert Hammacher. We hope you will be able to attend.
The following is one of the ways we are going back to the more traditional way some things were done in the past. On Tuesday, April 29, 2008, the fifth Tuesday of the month, we are serving a dinner at 6:30 PM. This dinner is open to all who desire to attend. Bring your wives, family and friends. Just be sure to be here. The dress is casual. (no shorts please) There will be a Power Point presentation from the local Ronald McDonald House. We have invited them to make this presentation so we could learn more about their organization and the different ways that we, as The St. Petersburg Masonic Center, could maybe assist them. The Lodge donated several tickets for the Shrine Circus to the Ronald McDonald House in St. Petersburg and they were very well received. We are looking for ways that our Masonic Center can become more involved in the community, and the Ronald McDonald House may be one. Please R.S.V.P. by April 22nd to 727-822-3517 with the number in your party for this dinner.
The months of July, September and December all have five Tuesdays. Look for a dinner on July 29th where the Lodge will supply the main dish and everyone attending will be asked to bring a side dish. This will probably be simply a social gathering as none of our Organizations will be holding business meetings during July.
